The Katie Nugent Three Peak Challenge
15th June 2019
This June The Katie Nugent Fund has set a challenge for people to hike Ireland’s three highest peaks in one day.
The challenge starts at 8am, 15th June 2019. It will take approx 8 hours to complete.
What do you have to do?
If you want to take part you must be fit and not afraid of heights.
Participants will hike the Coomloughra Horseshoe route which covers c. 12 kms across the peaks of Carrauntoohil, Beenkeragh and Caher, located in the MacGillycuddy Reeks, Co. Kerry. This route includes the Beenkeragh ridge.
Even in the best weather conditions this route requires care and some careful scrambling on the exposed and in some places knife-edged Beenkeragh Ridge.
You must be prepared with appropriate clothing and equipment. The ambition is to avoid single use plastics and to leave as little impact on the environment as possible. Information and recommendations on what to wear / bring will be sent to all participants in advance.
